History of the Program

  • BCIT Biotechnology Diploma program started in 1986
  • Around 2000, the program evolved into the present UBC-BCIT Biotechnology Honours B.Sc. Degree
  • The joint program was started with the aim to give technically-proficient students additional academic credibility, equipping them for research, industry, and corporate settings
  • The program includes 16 months of Co-op employment
  • Dr. Carol Friedrich-Fong is the present program head
